Horn player Saar Berger, born in 1980, has been a member of the Ensemble Modern since 2007.

Saar Berger  began his musical education  at the Petach - Tiqwa ,music Conservatory and started studying the Horn first with Avrom Liran ,Jacob Kling, Alon Reuven and Dalit Segal.
Saar Joined the Rubin Academy of Music at the University of Tel Aviv and in Jerusalem  with  Chezi Nir and Michael Slatkin. Thereafter he studied with Michael Höltzel in Hamburg and Marie Luise Neunecker at the Academy of Music ›Hanns Eisler‹ in Berlin and completed his German Diploma and his Horn soloist Diploma at the Frankfurt Academy of Music with  Erich Penzel  and Esa Tapani .  
Saar Berger has Served as principle / associate Principle with the Israeli Opera orchestra and the Israeli Symphony Orchestra.(2001-2005).

Saar Berger has received study grants from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and awards from  Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund.

Saar Berger has played with many renowned international orchestras as the West Eastern Divan Orchestra conducted by Daniel Barenboim, DSO (German symphonic orchestra Berlin), Potsdam Chamber philharmonic  , Bremen chamber Philharmonie, Munich chamber orchestra, Munich Radio symphony Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio symphony orchestra the Orchestra Sinfonica Pamplona in Spain, Lucerne string festival, Nordic symphony Orchestra in Tallinn, Stockholm chamber brass, Austrian "Windkraft" winds ensemble And The Hessischer Rundfunk ( Frankfurt Radio) Bigband ensemble .

Saar Berger cooperates closely with many young and internationally established composers and has been able to enrich the already extensive horn literature by performing many world premieres of concertos and solo pieces as a soloist. He was a member and horn mentor of the Branimir Slokar Academy and the International Orchestra of Ljubljana. Since 2017 he has been part of the teaching team of the Lucerne Festival Academy. Saar Berger teaches at the Ensemble Modern Academy as well as at the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main and is regularly invited to give master classes and concerts all over the world. Since 2019 he has been professor for horn at the Trossingen State Academy of Music.

New CD release in 2018: "Sonorous" for 2 horns solo with works from the baroque period originally for harpsichord & violin. Publisher of the instrument makers "Gebrüder Alexander", Mainz.

Double CD album "Travelling Pieces", a solo portrait with 17 new world premieres for horn, released in 2014 by Ensemble Modern Media Label.

The Percussion & Horn album "Stop & Horn" is available at the Slovenian Composers' Association and was released in 2014.

Double CD "Call, studies & games" with the Ensemble Modern Brass Trio with 20 new world premieres, released in 2017 on the Ensemble Modern Media label.
