A Great Opportunity for Young Percussionists

 

On October 5 and 6, 2019, Guido Marggrander, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Franz Lang, Professor for Percussion at the University of Music Trossingen, will give a Workshop “Orchestral Repertoire for Auditions” for Percussionists. This workshop is limited to 8 active participants. 

 

An audition will be held for all participants. The focus will be on entrance exam materials prepared by the participant for entering a German Music University. Sight-reading training, clarification and advice regarding B.M. and M.M degrees, the various majors including teaching degrees with a Percussion major. Career possibilities discussed.  All percussion instruments will be provided. Please bring mallets and sticks and a copy of the music you have prepared for Prof. Lang. 

 

Workshop

  • Students will get to play their prepared pieces for the class. The focus will be on entrance exam materials prepared by the participant for entering a German Music University.

  •  Sightreading training

  •  Advice and information concerning study, (Bachelors, Masters and Music Education degrees) at a German Music University as well as career possibilities as a professional percussionist.

  • All percussion instruments will be provided. Please bring mallets and sticks and a copy of the music you have prepared for Prof. Lang

  •  The following program must be prepared:

    A solo or etude from each of the following: a) snare drum, b) Timpani, c) Xylophone, d) Vibraphone or Marimba (4 mallets).
